In Today’s environment with so many owning several portable electronic devices that are seemingly always in need of charging one comes to look for and have a need for a portable source of power that multiple devices can be charge in a pinch.

The Move Power Station just might be that solution for some. The cost is $24.99 and comes in Blue, Black, Red & Green it weighs roughly 7 oz and is 5 inches long and just over one inch in thickness..now in order for it to house the huge 20,000 mAh battery it is going to have to have substantial weight and thickness to it. This is double the size of most of the 10,000 mAh which pale in comparison .

On the front of the device you have an LED charge/power indicator four lights in total with each representing the level of charge left one light 25% two lights 50% three lights 75% and four the unit has a full charge on it. Included with the charging power hub is a USB connector with several adapters for both older and newer modeled phones alike.

Everything is on the front of this device you have your power on/off button which also serves when long pressed as the power on/off for the flashlight function a single ultra bright LED light that can serve well if you were to bring this while camping or needed additional light if you had a blackout or lose power due to a storm…so having this charging station as an additional source of power for that reason alone is a great investment.

you have one mini USB connection on the front that serves as the means to charge the unit itself. You can’t charge the unit itself while it’s charging other electronic devices. I believe some sort of chip technology built within prevents this from taking place. So you have two main USB charging ports one marked as 1A or amp which is used to charge smaller devices such as mobile phones and the other charging port is 2A or amps which can be used to charge your tablets as it puts out more juice to charge those larger devices and drastically cuts down on charging time. You can also use the 2A port if your device supports quick charge technology. If it doesn’t than it will disperse 1 amp into the device.

When the unit is fully charged it can charge a cellphone roughly 5 times and tablets 2-3 times depending if they’re 7-10 inch tablets or larger. Although the unit is on the thick side you can still fit it right into your back pocket and I was able to connect the USB straight to my phone that was in my front pocket and charge my device while not in use. You can also charge the MOVE power station right in your car though the cigarette lighter.

The MOVE power station isn’t meant to act as though an extended battery or something like a Morphie juice pack or power skin that obviously snap right on to your device. Which for the most part are okay but those also need to be charged and more often than not are less than 3500 mAh maybe enough to re-juice your phones battery once if you’re lucky and cost 2-3 times more than this power hub cost.

The MOVE is meant as a main source to charge your electronic device of choice. Couple that with an addition connection to charge a second device and it’s simply a win!

I would recommend this to anyone that carries around two cellphone and a tablet and always is in need to have one of the three if not two charging. The cost isn’t going to bust your wallet and as we all know we can never have enough on the spot charging options a great thing to have because it’s mobile and it’s not going to relegate you to staying in one spot while your device charges…so it’s for an on the go type of individual that just wants to hook their device up toss it in their backpack and keep moving to wherever they need to be…

Charging time varies on the size and battery capacity of your specific device. iPhones charge quickly in 2 hours or less for instance! I have a tablet with a 6000 mAh battery and I charged it from dead in about 3 hours

I would highly recommend this and you can pick them up on Amazon or Ebay and I’ve seen them from $22.99 through $29.99

My overall rating of the MOVE power station is 8.5 out of 10

So a few minutes ago I was trying to update Google Talk to Google Hangouts on my HTC One. I went to the Play Store and searched for “Hangouts” and it said that I already had it installed, I scratched my head for a minute, looked at my app drawer for Hangouts and it still said that I had Google Talk installed. I looked further into things and found that the version number of Google Talk on my phone was Version 4.1.2 and the version number on Google Hangouts was 1.0.0.1. Since the version of Google Talk was preloaded on my phone I was unable to uninstall it and then install the new app. I then went to Google Play on my desktop and started reading reviews and a user suggested installing it from the website, so I went back up to the top of the page and clicked Install on my HTC One and sure enough my phone started to install the update!

SYNOPSIS-

One of the greatest things for anyone that follows technology is the joy to share their experiences with others and the satisfaction in helping or assisting others to come to an informed decision. My goal for this review isn’t particularly to shoot out a laundry list of specs but to give our fans a true review on both my experiences and encounters being an owner of the HTC One over the last month.

I wanted to start by saying I was a huge fan of HTC way back in the day some 7 years ago when the original HTC 8525 TyTn came out running the dreaded Windows 6 series OS…Before such time I was never really keen any any device I would own.

This particular HTC phone was the very first time I paid any such attention to the differences in build quality that set it apart from other devices of the era, and for 2006 although it was a huge brick by today’s measurements it was a very cool device none the less. I enjoyed the phone so much that I upgraded to the original Tilt the very next year the HTC 8925 and that was my phone for the longest time and the last HTC device I had for for a long while.

I did however have the HTC HD2 for a short while back in 2010 Because it was an unlocked T-mobile phone I was able to use it on AT&T however I never really had the chance to enjoy if fully as using the device on AT&T’s Edge network kind of killed off the entire experience for me.

So fast forwarding now a few months back I was once again eligible for an upgrade and I was looking for something different, different in all ways! I wanted and hoped a vendor would finally manage to come out with something that had everything rolled into one. Now don’t get me wrong there were plenty of great devices out there but nothing that really sparked my interest enough to say “well now here’s something different and unique” My original choice was the LG Optimus G a really great device a had thoughts of getting the Nexus 4 but no LTE support put a quick damper on that.

When CES and MWC came to be there were rumors HTC was going to announce a new flagship device for 2013 code named M7 that eventually came to be the HTC One. Now I said to myself here’s something that finally has the very best of Android, great hardware coupled with the great build quality and software to match. S0 let me take this opportunity to run down the specs real quick and then I’ll cover several areas of the phone and give you my personal real impressions and then rate the device overall.

HTC ONE SPECIFICATIONS:

-The following will be covered in this review-

DESIGN: BUILD: SCREEN: SOUND: SENSE 5.0: PERFORMANCE: CAMERA: BATTERY : CONCLUSION & RATING

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

DESIGN/BUILD:

The HTC One is made out of one piece of machined aluminum for its chassis. It measures 9.3 mm at it’s thickest point all the way down to just 4mm at the sides of the device giving it a subtle natural curved back. HTC uses a process called zero-gap injection molding technology a process that combines the One’s aluminum front and back with its polycarbonate sides, top and bottom to create a handset that feels as impressively solid as it looks.

The phones antennas run along the back of the device at both the top and bottom portions and take nothing away from the design language of the phone and actually do a great justice at accentuating it. The top of the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack and power on/off button which also serves as an IR (In fa-Red) blaster to control your TV and set top box. On the left you have the Sim card tray,

The right side sports the volume rocker finished in brushed aluminum. The Bottom we have the first of two noise cancellation mics and a micro usb connection which serves as both your charging and synching port. The front has an ambient light sensor and proximity sensor, a 2.1 mp camera and both the top and bottom adorn speakers. Lastly two navigational soft keys back and home! The screen is a 4.7 inch 1920×1080 resolution super LCD3 display 468 ppi protected with Corning’s Gorilla glass 2 technology.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

KEN HOEY-

My overall impression of the design language on the HTC one is that of your standard everyday candy-bar styled phone with that in mind though there are many attributes that the HTC One has that are clearly distinguishing and make it stand out. One such noted area are the sides of the device in particular. because of the overall build of the HTC One they were able to bring the sides of the device down to a mind boggling 4mm in thickness so when you first hold it the device feels much thinner than it appears to be. The device is extremely comfortable to hold due to the natural curve the design exudes.

It sits very nicely within my hand, which I happen to have medium sized hands. The device is fairly sized and I’m able to reach all of the buttons and keys easily without repositioning my hand. The quality of the device is truly premium not only in how it looks which is stunning but also how it’s put together solid. It has a good weight to it, The entire trim of the device is nicely done in a diamond cut with tempered edges.

The device isn’t only enjoyable to look at and a pleasure to use it’s also an industry first as HTC managed to use one single piece of machined aluminum for the chassis of the device. Finally someone both able and capable of matching Apple in terms of a premium quality build for a mobile handset.

GABRIEL STORM- The overall build of the phone is fantastic far beyond my expectation. No issues with gaps or separation.

Design & Build rating- 9.5 out of 10

SCREEN:

The HTC One has a 1920×1080 resolution on a 4.7 inch Super LCD3 display creating an insanely high 468ppi pixel density. Protecting the display is Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 technology. The screen is bright and color interpretation is as expected to be outstanding! On screen text is super sharp and crisp. The One’s display is impressively clear, sharp and bright and is great for watching video, reading text such as emails and browsing websites like reading newspaper quality print.

Looking at the display with the naked eye you wouldn’t be able to see any abnormalities. Colors are soft and natural on the eye no over-saturation or exaggerated colors but they do pop with the whites coming up nice a bright and deep blacks holding their own against Amoled, Retina and other display technology.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

KEN HOEY-

My experience in using the the HTC One for some three weeks now I can say that the screen is the best of what’s currently out on the market. I’ve compared the screen to that of a multitude of other devices and in sheer terms of it’s overall quality and both image and print representation it’s unprecedented and unmatched for the most part.

The viewing angles on the device are great and the screen is viewable in direct sunlight. Nothing appears to be washed out or overly saturated in terms of color interpretation or reproduction. I’m not saying that there aren’t other devices that have great displays but what I am saying is as of what we currently have on the market there isn’t a screen that can match that of the HTC One. I encourage those that have a chance to check it out…even if you’re not intending to buy the device one can come to appreciate the level of which screen technology on phones has advanced over recent years.

GABRIEL STORM- The display is quite good, however there’s a little difficulty seeing it in bright sunlight. Shaded areas are no problem.

SOUND:

The HTC One has taken innovation a step further in this department and it clearly differentiates them from the pack. Although what HTC has accomplished isn’t what one would call extraordinary as any of the current vendors could’ve done this the very act of simply utilizing space on the front of the device coupled with the addition of a secondary speaker to create stereo sound and adding beats audio integration into playback has been nothing short of amazing.

There are two front facing grilled speakers aluminum aluminum plated to match that of the chassis. The speakers have a hefty volume to them and playback is undistorted, crisp, clean and nothing short of LOUD! It makes for a very enjoyable experience. The simple act of repositioning the customary speaker location that being the back in addition to a secondary speaker a few other audible tweaks and they’ve really hit this one out of the park.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

KEN HOEY-

My very first impressions when booting up my HTC One were immediately met by AT&T’s much familiar sounding jingle and I have to tell you it got my attention something quick. There’s a huge and very recognizable difference in not only the volume but the quality of the sound coming out of the HTC One. The differences are clear and very distinctive…and it clearly demands your attention as the sound is very robust to the point of totally immersing you deeper into the experience.

I find myself listening to music more out of the speakers than on headphones. Gone are the tinny sounds and ear-aching distorted sounds of prior devices. It makes using the device much more pleasurable when you’re sharing video content with a friend or family member that you can lay the phone down and the sound isn’t degraded or muffled in the least. Something so simple makes one wonder why any other vendors didn’t jump on this over the last 2-3 years in particular!

I’m extremely happy that HTC brought this to market and it only adds to the overall eccentric value of the device. I’ve had several people to ask about the device for the mere fact of the sound . The only soft spot in all of this is that sometimes beats audio isn’t always automatically initiated at playback for everything and on some audio playback is low and flat fidelity quality of it. I’m not 100% positive if that’s the device or the actual audio volume level the music/video was recorded at.

GABRIEL STORM- Boom-sound really brings audio to the forefront.Even medium volume is loud. A win for HTC!

HTC SENSE 5.0 UI:

As in prior adaptations of HTC ‘s sense UI this time around HTC totally revamped and lightened their Sense UI overlay. In that respect HTC has had a tremendous overall improvement. Sense has made their specific interpretations to a host of jellybean 4.1 default features where as many parts of the OS seemingly get lost within the framework of Sense 5.0..

However HTC does a better job in complimenting other aspects of the OS and do their best to keep it as unobtrusive as they can. with that said though it still needs a little bit of work but it’s very refreshing to see the effort has been made. HTC still has a majority of their widgets and wallpapers and heavy themes if you wish to go that route and they have lock screen themes and what are now their infamous clock widgets. Double tapping the home button to access running applications does take some getting use to in addition to the absence of a end all apps feature that’s a standard part of JB 4.1 instead you have to flick them away individually which at times can be a very cumbersome long and drawn out.

Menus are laid out nicely with HTC’s own little embellishments…the UI does flow very nicely and takes nothing away from the overall user end experience ..unlike sense 4.0 which was layer upon layer of heavy theming and HTC’s own customizations so entrenched throughout the OS you didn’t feel as though you were even running android at all. In many instances hampering and hurting the performance of the One X series on a whole.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

KEN HOEY-

In using the device some weeks now and going through all parts of it, I can appreciate HTC’s effort in finally overhauling their UI to the point of being a little more than tolerable. It’s a great pleasure in using the HTC One to the point that I personally don’t feel I have to neither hide no enhance my experience by loading a third party launcher on top of it. With HTC revamping their Sense 5.0 UI for 2013 I must say it’s the best that they’ve delivered to date.

It’s not obtrusive nor is it terribly top heaving robbing my phone of precious resources which in past HTC devices I’ve owned caused the device to become sluggish as it took a lot for the phone to push itself through the complexities of prior iterations of Sense. There are still Remanence in certain pockets of the HTC UI especially Blink-feed and the inability to get rid of it…some theming and animations and lack of quick toggles in the pull down notification panel without taking an extra step to access them.

Although I personally don’t mind the soft key set up on the front of the device it would’ve served HTC better if they at the very least relocated the HTC branding on the front of the device or deleted it totally as it’s clearly visible on the back…this sandwiched between the home and back keys is a tad deceiving as many people think this is part of a three key set when in fact it’s nothing more than a logo.

I like sense 5.0 as it’s no longer a major resource hog and it’s more subtle throughout the device but believe me you still know it’s there and I believe if by the next update to sense it’ll be fine tuned even more.

GABRIEL STORM - Better than past versions more enjoyable has a way to go though.

PERFORMANCE:

In sheer terms of raw power from both CPU & GPU the HTC One seemingly has it all. Powered by a Qualcomm snapdragon 600 series 1.7GHZ quad cored processor CPU and Adreno 320 GPU in addition to 2GB of RAM all together they’re seemingly an indestructible force! This hardware will be relevant throughout the year as it seems devices in the first six months of the year will be sporting the Qualcomm snapdragon 600 series processors for their flagship devices and we’ll be seeing Qualcomm’s snapdragon 800 series processors in addition to Tegra 4 quad core processor technology in the latter part of 2013.

The device has unmatched power and we’ve finally arrived at the point of which android optimizes the devices hardware as the HTC One runs as smooth as they come…there is zero lag and the processors handle anything thrown at them. The device can have over a dozen apps running and plow through a graphically intense game without even the slightest of a hiccup. playing a high graphic demanding game though for an extended period of time (over 45 minutes) will cause the device to heat up and the processors to throttle which will slow performance and frame-rate a little to the point of where it’s a little noticeable though nothing extreme.

Lets put it this way you have to push the device seriously hard to achieve what I’m referring too…The 2GB of RAM really help compliment the overall performance of the device and is one part of the puzzle for the HTC One’s ability to effectively handle the workload.

KEN HOEY-

The HTC One has the muscle to effectively run a multitude of programs & tasks seamlessly. Jumping in and out of applications is a breeze…I’ve not experienced any force closes and opened many apps jumped from one to the other while watching a video on YouTube. Screen transitions are flawless no stagger or stutter stepping at all. Gaming is an absolute joy and the phone can handle a heavy workload with little to no immediate effect on the battery..

Owning and working with other devices over the years doing a few minutes of heavy usage on more than one task and I’d see an immediate depletion of the battery…now I’m not saying the battery isn’t effected but the drain rate is drastically improved within the device. So although most might think the 2300 mAh battery is seemingly too small to power a 4.7 inch 1080p display and run all of that horsepower under the hood well you’re in for a surprise on that.

The most important part of the hardware of the HTC One that allows it the luxury of being able to handle the high demanding workload is the 2GB of on board RAM…if there was any less present it probably wouldn’t be as smooth.

GABRIEL STORM- Very good speed. Apps load quickly and no real lag switching between applications.

CAMERA:

Upon HTC’s announcement of the ONE the company decided to exit the megapixel race and focus more emphasis on what constitutes taking a better picture? That being light! That being said they introduce a new marketing word “Ultra Pixel” more on that in a moment. The HTC One has a 2.1 MP wide angled lens front facing camera capable of shooting in 1080p and on all accounts is right there with everything that has been released to date.

The back camera is a 4 UP or Ultra Pixel camera with LED flash which can record in 1080p the lens is capable of capturing as much as 300% more light than any 13 megapixel camera out in the market today. This makes photos taking using the device far more superior than the competition especially in low light conditions. It is using an image sensor that needs to support just four mega pixels. This means the HTC One pixels are much bigger compared to the pixels in other smartphones. Here are what help support HTC’s decision to go the way they did this year with their camera technology.

• HTC Image Chip – A dedicated chip that offers continuous auto-focus, color shading, and noise reduction, as well as more realistic HDR (High Dynamic Range) .
• F2.0 Aperture – The largest available on smartphone camera, it lets in 44% more light than the iPhone 5 for example.
• Optical Image Stabilization – Drastically reduces blur in still photos and shaky video footage.

The HTC One also has a very powerful native photo editing tool and a long list of camera settings to match whatever condition you encounter.

HTC Zoe is one of the main features of the HTC One’s Camera. This feature allows your pictures to come to life taking a picture with Zoe you also record a 3 second snip-it just before the shot and when viewing these in gallery mode on the device it brings your phone to life. The phone can also blend all of your pictures into a little presentation of sorts with music included.

Its a totally fun feature for anyone that loves taking pictures. You also have the ability to share your Zoe pics too. The HTC One Gallery does come to life and is nicely laid out…very refreshing and enjoyable to use almost to the point of an interactive gallery.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

KEN HOEY-

The camera on the HTC One takes more than acceptable pictures. People in general have a misconception about cameras and we’re always taught to believe that the higher the Mega-Pixel the better the picture. Not always the case. Lets just say that there are lower Mega Pixel cameras on the market that can and have been proven to produce a better quality picture than that of their larger counterparts . In everyday use the HTC One takes great pictures. Very sharp and great color balance and interpretation.

Even though anything you take on this phone has a tendency of looking great because you’re viewing it on a 1080p display. But when the pictures are viewed on a computer monitor they produce the same effect. I would only imagine that printing off these photos would produce the same desirable results. In terms of using the camera it’s perfectly fine if you’re sharing or viewing a large majority of your pictures online over social media channels. If you’re developing your photos within standard sizes of 4×6 through 8×10 than you’ll have no issues with the enlargements.

If you’re going beyond standard sizes than you’ll have a larger amount of noise, blur and image degradation . I’ve been using the camera on the phone for the last three weeks everyday and posting pictures everywhere. so below are but a few examples of pictures that I’ve taken. Let it be noted that there isn’t anything done to these pictures in terms of editing to try and enhance their quality. These are not HDR nor Macro pics all settings are normal or automatic.

GABRIEL STORM- Blink-Feed is a great idea unfortunately it lacks content. Zoe is great and is a fun feature to use. Pictures are on par with any 8mp on the market, great low light photography. I don’t use flash as much as once did.

The battery on the HTC One is a Non-removable Li-Po 2300 mAh battery. In terms of batteries and HTC they’ve always had a very long and poor track record of putting too small of a battery to power the hardware that they have inside of their phones. One would think with the addition of a secondary speaker a quad cored processor a 1080p display and various other features such as Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, GPS, and LTE connectivity it would kill off the battery rather quickly…surprisingly HTC has a very effective secret weapon that being their power saver mode.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

KEN HOEY-

I’d have to say that the power saver mode on the HTC One is the absolute best feature to combat both heavy usage and the obviously painstaking reality of the undersized battery…personally I would’ve liked to see something between 2600-2800 mAh but for arguments sake and the ability of this one feature to extend the battery life almost endlessly ..I’ll digress!

Power saver mode has 4 main options to choose from to conserve battery life: CPU power, display, vibration, and data connection. The options that have the highest impact on the battery are “CPU power” and “Data connection.” Brightness should be turned off with auto-brightness enabled in your settings . Vibration has the smallest impact on battery.

Now I know what you’re thinking …By “conserving CPU usage,” wont that make the One perform noticeably slower? The answer to that is NO! The phone is still blazing fast as ever and I doubt anyone out there will notice any change in “speed” at all it’s that UN-noticeable.

The Data connection option (turning off data when the screen is off), this is probably going to be the biggest area of concern for some. Missing out on notifications and emails because your data is off sounds bad but it’s actually not. I’ve noticed these messages still coming through. Not sure if it periodically enables data to let some messages fly through, or if it only turns off data during long hours of screen off time. In any case, it hasn’t caused me to miss anything and it takes no extra time for the device to immediately make a connection back to the network it’s also refreshing for those who don’t want their social channels hounding them while at the dinner table or sleeping.

GABRIEL STORM- Battery is good. I can get 18 hours of moderate use and only drops 40%.

Battery rating – 8.5 out of 10

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

CONCLUSION:

I’ve had the HTC One for the better part of three weeks now. I must say without sounding too cliche that it’s truly the best device that I’ve owned to date and that’s coming from a previous owner of a multitude of high end smartphones over the last few years. I’ve always been a fan of HTC but moved away from them years ago because they over saturated the market with 15-20 versions of their flagship phones which caused owners like myself frustration because each version was that much better than the one you bought just 2-3 months prior. That’s obviously changed with this years launch of their new flagship. The device is more than a pleasure to use and it fits perfectly and comfortably in my medium sized hands.

It’s not a wafer thin light feather phone it has weight to it nothing substantial though but it feels as though that it looks. Both it’s quality design and premium build are much much needed and appreciated amongst android owners as it culminates the first time an android device has matched and in many ways surpassed Apples legendary build quality of their iconic iPhone. I had no reservations in signing a two year contract for this device at all. I know HTC will do the right thing in terms of updates to the device and it will stay relevant through out the course of the year. There’s nothing I can possibly write and there’s no pictures or video that will do this phone the justice and attention it deserves.

You’ll have to see it up close and personal and see what us HTC One owners are raving about. I encourage anyone that plans to make a trip to their local AT&T Retail Store to at the very least check out the HTC One..even if you have absolutely no intention of getting the phone or even don’t care for the platform…check it out and test drive it in the store and see all of the greatest ingredients of technology and how when they’re blended and baked together come out perfect looking!

When Ingenuity, Creativity, Vision, and Innovation all come together the end result is the HTC One. Even if HTC is an underdog and in dire straits and does nothing else this year they did bring to market a first and serve as inspiration for the rest of the android phone making community that it can be done and it was done! We know all about numbers that equate to greatness but this was no small feat to accomplish..it was a very daring and bold move from a company that has everything riding on this “One” (no pun intended) device.

AT&T WOLFPACK OVERALL PHONE RATING : 9 (Excellent)

f

Antek quick settings for android is available in two versions the free version and pro version which cost $1.99 it’s a quick toggle replacement for any android powered device that has great customization and theme capabilities. You also are able to launch apps and make quick phone calls to Favorited contacts using this app.It just take the idea of notifications and toggles to an entirely new level.

I had ran across this a week or two ago as I was looking for something to replace the current way to gain access to toggles via the HTC One as you don’t have access to them through the pull down notification window..You actually have to go a step further into the sub-menu to gain access to these features.

This is a very slick looking tool to use for quick access to those most important toggles like Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc… instead of having to take extra steps to gain access to the setting. You can also theme this anyway you desire by controlling the size of each pane, the color scheme, and you can create a jellybean style toggle bar on a non jellybean device nor does your device have to be rooted, which is also kind of cool…so the level of customization is pretty high. Those that are interested in getting the pro version for $1.99 this offers the ability to add more toggles to your pull-down menu as I believe the limit on the free version is 12

You have a huge amount of options where you can control the sizing and font style in addition to gestures such as adding haptic feedback to certain tabs. This works together with your notification tray.

I’m using this in combination with my notification menu for my HTC One to enhance the overall experience of the device. This is available now in the Google Play Store so check it out.

Just a short time ago, we reported that the update seemed destined for an arrival in May. Rogers, a Canadian carrier, suggested that its update would be coming this month and AT&T, in the past, has seen its Samsung Android updates lineup with Rogers’ updates. Turns out, AT&T actually has beaten Rogers to the punch as the AT&T Galaxy Note Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is indeed available to owners looking to jump from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Samsung has posted the update (for some it may say Page Not Found, we believe this to be because Samsung is propagating the site) to its website which means that owners should be able to upgrade their device through Samsung Kies. Samsung Kies requires owners to plug their device into the PC in order to upgrade. AT&T says that the update is rolling out starting tomorrow, May 3rd, but we’ve heard of people already pulling it through Kies. So it’s definitely worth a try today.

At the very least, the update should be available through Samsung Kies for all users willing to go through the process. It’s possible that it may wind up being the only process that enables Android 4.1 to replace Android 4.0.

Owners should try to update through Samsung Kies, not OTA.

Beginning May 1, consumers who trade in their current smartphone to AT&T* will be eligible to receive at least $100 off the purchase of a new smartphone, including the new Samsung Galaxy® S 4, BlackBerry® Z10 or 32 GB HTC One®. These devices are normally $199.99 with a qualifying two-year agreement** but, with this limited time promotion, they will be available for $99.99.

This promotion applies to any smartphone AT&T sells, and gives customers access to the latest devices at a fraction of the cost or, in the case of smartphones priced under $99.99**, for free. To take advantage of this offer, customers are encouraged to visit any AT&T company-owned retail store or participating authorized dealer with their previous smartphone that is no more than three years old and in good, working condition. In stores, upon trading in their old phone, customers will receive the $100 credit on-the-spot and can use it immediately. ***

Some trade-in phones may have a value higher than $100. In this case, customers will receive the credit at the higher value.

AT&T offers a broad variety of smartphones that run on the nation’s fastest 4G LTE**** network. AT&T 4G LTE currently covers nearly 200 million people; with plans to expand to cover 300 million people by the end of 2014. In a report***** by independent testing organization RootMetrics, AT&T’s 4G LTE network was called “blazing fast.” The report found AT&T’s 4G LTE network delivered the fastest pure LTE speeds in markets where AT&T provided 4G LTE.

“This offer is a great opportunity for AT&T customers to get their hands on the newest smartphones in our portfolio at an outstanding price,” said Eric Goldfeld, AVP- marketing management, AT&T. “With graduation and Mother’s Day coming up, people can take advantage of this promotion to surprise someone – or even treat themselves – to one of our hottest smartphones. The best part is that you’ll receive credit for your old phone instantly on-the-spot in AT&T stores.”

In AT&T company-owned retail stores, AT&T’s Trade-In Program lets customers turn in old wireless phones and receive an AT&T promotional card reflective of the device’s trade-in value and condition. Customers can use the card to offset the cost of some of the latest wireless devices or the purchase of other AT&T products and services.*** All devices, including tablets data cards and feature phones – regardless of manufacturer or date purchased – will be considered for trade-in.

Beyond seeing a little more green in their pocket, AT&T customers that use our trade in program are also doing their part to support the company’s sustainability initiatives. In 2012 AT&T customers recycled more that 3.1 million phones and broke the world record for cell phones recycled in a one-week period as certified by Guinness World Records.

Switching to a new smartphone has never been easier with AT&T Mobile Transfer, an app that syncs contacts, photos and videos from your old phone to your new phone. Just visit www.att.com/mobiletransfer to make sure both phones are compatible, download the app and follow the instructions to transfer.

Likewise, setting up your new smartphone is a snap with AT&T Ready2Go, a free service that helps you to easily set up and personalize your device in minutes from the comfort of your personal computer. With Ready2Go, it’s easy to set up your email accounts, import your contacts, connect to your social networks and more.

If anyone hasn’t taken notice the HTC One was launched on AT&T this past Friday April 19th Currently there’s only one version of it available for retail that being the Glacier White 32GB for $199.99 for either new activations or for eligible upgrades with a two-year contract extension. Recently the black 32GB version of the HTC One has surfaced on the AT&T website but it simply says coming soon. The AT&T exclusive 64GB model is still not available to date and there’s no word as to when it’s going to be released either.

Other noteworthy news concerning the HTC One is there has been chatter around the internet of many devices having “shotty” build quality issues that aren’t particular to any one specific region of the country. There’s some sort of separation going on in the polycarbonate injected molding around the sides of the device specifically the top portion of the device where it runs along the headphone jack to the power on/off button. In addition some devices where the screen molding and back panel come together there’s some sort of lapping effect going on…meaning you should be easily able to run your fingernail up the sides of the device as it should have zero gap and all be seamless and perfectly smooth. However people are reporting that it’s snagging and catching on something around the sides which signifies or implies poor design execution maybe rushing because they didn’t want to suffer any further delays so visual inspection of units before they left the plant appear to have been laxed.

Furthermore, around the diamond cut bezel of the device some have laid claim that the finish is rough and jagged on the upper portion of the phone as though it was filed with a serrated knife of sorts.

On the software side some reporting out there that the camera isn’t focusing correctly and pictures are coming out fuzzy and cloudy..possibly devices that were yet to get the camera update for the reported bug when it was released over in Asia & Europe.

I’d say this..every new phone on launch has issues no matter the vendor. Being as this is the first batch of device for North America one should come to assume that just like other countries around the world we’re not exempt from this happening. I’d say to physically inspect the device wherever you may be purchasing it. Also power up the phone and make sure it all works before you walk out of the store…turn everything on make a phone call on it. take a picture and shoot some video footage. This will save you a huge amount of grief in getting it home and then having to turn right around to return it. Regardless though it might have issues here on launch with the first batch of devices…it shouldn’t discourage you from owning the device.

Be sure to take the opportunity to at least check it out on the next visit to your AT&T store or area retailer, and for all of those that might have missed my un-boxing can check it out below…

Upon the devices release there’s now a host of accessories available for the device as they had a nice selection of cases at my local AT&T store
