Audi A3 Simulator CES Experience
Last week has been a total blur! CES has been amazing and I cant thank AT&T enough for accomodating us all week. In this video we have the Audi rep showing me the ropes using the new Audi A3 trainer. This trainer allows Audi to show off the features of the car without actually needing an entire car as a demo. This also allows anyone to get in and out of the trainer easily.
The training started off with an explanation of the forward controls. Audi blew me away in this department. The navigation screen is a 7 inch, motorized screen. An iPhone 4 was used to compare the navigation screen thickness. The unit tucks away neatly under the dash when not in use. This unit is also 4G LTE connected, and Google Earth has been fully integrated into the stock Audi software, allowing you to click a wheel, similar to BMWs iDrive. The top of the click wheel is also a touch pad, allowing you to draw a shape with your finger while you are driving, keeping your eyes on the road, while it selects the section of the alphabet you want to be in. “B” for example, brings up everything in the “B” category, whether you are in the navigation screen, or in the address book.
Audi has always made some amazing automobiles, and this one is no exception. The fit and finish of the interior is second to none. The cockpit ergonomics is completely amazing. The leather is comfortable and red stitching is used throughout.
Again, I’d like to thank Joshua Fruhlinger at Engadget for giving us the tour and Audi for showing me the new A3 cockpit simulator.
